I chose this app because it continues to use Gulf of Mexico. It is excellent!

This Mac app has a nice interface with a very easy to read navigation map and good detail. It’s the prettiest. It also has a very up-to-date business database. It will be as good as the Big Brother apps from Applebet when CarPlay functionality is full, but most particularly when the voice model is updated. It sounds pretty antiquated. But that is a small price for a free (so far) app with no annoying ads.
Other map apps supposedly work off-line, but they are hard to configure. This one is a piece of cake. Just click off-line, then select the continent, country and specific location you want downloaded, such as the state of New York. The only catch is, you must keep the device open and the app running until the download is complete.
This app regularly directs me to turn into oncoming one way street traffic, and changes instructions mid-route, with no settings to STOP that due to traffic priblems, etc. It will constantly direct me to leave major streets for multiple 1-3 block diversions that are not remotely shorter routes. It recently directed me to take freeway exit off ramps, and then turn to rejoin the same freeway, 8 times in a 10 mile distsnce! This is utterly idiotic, dangerous garbage.
I want to rate higher. In most cases, I get multiple route options to choose from. Usually 3. However, one of the most frequent routes I take I’m only offered 1 option and it’s not the best option. This is the case in the reverse direction as well.
As of today, can no longer download, update or delete offline maps
Finally, there is a version specific to the iPad, and it looks great. This is my favorite offline maps app that is free. I also like that it now shows exit numbers on freeways. It would be perfect if color was used for the roads.
Like a lot of people recently, I found this app as a replacement for Google and Apple Maps. The only real complaints I have are instead of rerouting me when I leave the route, it tells me to get back on the route. It also could be a bit better at avoiding traffic but I'd imagine that will get better as more people use the app.
The maps in HERE are severely outdated. They’re not even close to being current with USGS data. It’s a shame it’s gotten so dated. This used to be my go to navigation app.
It’s a great and smooth app! It allows offline downloads of maps, and has pretty good traffic rerouting (all those luxury European cars that use this for native mapping give good data). CarPlay support is lacking. It always makes me restart the application before I can use it. You also can’t have the map and music controls at the same time. A real bummer.
Downloaded this app because it isn’t caving to Trump’s PC nonsense. However, it’s missing some bus routes (has only 2/3 near my work) and tried to lead me the wrong way down a 1 way.
The only app that prioritize your privacy and functions like a normal map. With public transportation too! Making my partner and everyone else use this app instead lol. My only wish is to be able to do customizations in the future for those who have disabilities or those who just like personalization. I wouldn’t mind making my icon differently lol. Overall I’m very happy.
I’m shifting off Google and trying to find something that works for me. Maps still has plenty to improve. I wanted to try HWG—but it’s not very compatible with Apple carplay and doesn’t allow for any changes to the route once started (on CarPlay). It’s hard to remain truly hands free when something doesn’t function the way I’m used to. I know that’s not a fair review, but I’d love some improvements!
After Google and Apple Maps inappropriately changed the name of a body of water, I searched for alternative mapping solutions. I settled on Here WeGo after using several alternatives, because it provides the richest feature set. This was the only app I tested that had the ability to add collections of saved places, a feature I used highly on Google Maps. The only downside I’ve found is that there are some inaccuracies in POI data, especially in dense urban areas. But overall, it’s a great alternative.
A functional app with the correct nomenclature for important bodies of water like the Gulf of Mexico. I wish there was a paid version so I wasn’t the product.
Good alternative for those who are appalled by Google and Apple being cowardly because one man made a silly declaration about the Gulf of Mexico.
Please work on making this app better since I’m Not using anything else. It lags and it’s hard to find information through it
Excellent app, thank you! Bye bye google and apple maps!
Spelling is correct in “Gulf of Mexico” as opposed to some other apps like Google Maps
I was able to find the gulf of Mexico. Also I was a big fan of Here/Nokia Maps/Navitech back when they were part of Nokia.
Finally a map app that doesn’t have incorrect names for things like the golf of Mexico.
A breath of fresh air 😊.
I’ll be using this until Google/Apple and whatnot changes the Gulf of Mexico name back! Just because the name is not “pro-American” doesn’t mean you change it. The name is as old as when English settlers first came to America, and Here WeGo recognizes the CORRECT and HISTORICAL name! Good on them!
I see it’s already going up the navigation ranks!
Great to find a travel app that focuses ion providing accurate information and doesn’t promote authoritarianism.
Okay, I’m not a crank. But both Google Maps and Apple Maps have switched to Gulf of Am—-ca. So I’m switching map apps. Nokia knows how to build large data networks. And use correct place names. Successfully using the app in Coachella Valley right now.
Saw this recommended as an alternative to Google and Apple Maps for reasons I'm sure most are aware of. So far, I like it. (:
This is a perfect replacement for Google or Apple Maps as it has correct labeling, is easy to use and even offers offline maps if needed. Two thumbs up!
Glad to see not everybody is crazy
Why would anyone want to use this app ? All locations are either old or outdated, very poor graphics and design, just horrible
The interface and speed of the app are spot on, but I’d love it if you would implement your EV route planning API if our fuel type is set to “Electric”, with the ability to filter charging networks (hate Elon), port type, and speed. This app would be a game changer with that.
Can you have it sync with your contacts on your phone? That would be really nice so I don’t have to memorize all of my contact’s addresses
Recently been interested in looking for an alternative to Google/Apple maps. Used to use Here maps all the time on my old Nokias and pleasantly surprised at how great the app is now. As noted in other reviews, the CarPlay support isn’t the best, but I’m hoping to see improvements there in future updates.
I love the offline experience allowing my phone to conserve energy!!!!
It’s a great navigation app used in iPhone 14 Pro . I wish though the downloaded maps were organised by geographical locations (continents) and countries instead of dumping everything in a single folder.
You guys finally fixed the bug where app wouldn’t update in the background. I have seen that this app updates maps much quicker on android. Is there some sort of hatred for iPhones? I’m stuck at 12% for over an hour. You guys have taken the European work hours way too seriously for last ten years. It can be a great app if you guys get around to it.
I really want to like this navigation app, but half the time I launch it. It just shows a blank screen, and I have to force quit in order to get it working.
I've been using Here We Go for a while and I'm impressed! It includes a user-friendly interface that’s simple but robust, distinguishing itself from other cluttered apps. While the overall search experience is good, a couple of enhancements would be beneficial. Firstly, predictive search needs improvement, often requiring the full name to be typed compared to other apps. This could significantly expedite navigation, especially when you need to quickly change your destination en route. Secondly, prioritizing voice search is essential for a quicker and safer experience while on the road. Another issue is the Apple car play integration. It’s very basic, maps don’t look as good as they do in the mobile app, they’re not 3D, search is limited, no voice integration, it’s very barebones. I really hope they do get CarPlay up to par. The mobile app is amazing and it would look even better on CarPlay.
Actually works offline and in poor coverage. Need I say more?
Excellent app. The only issue is the volume; all three levels are the same. Loud is the same as medium and low
This is a great alternative to Apple Maps or google maps for navigation. Quick to reroute and I love the satellite view you can choose like google maps. Works great with Apple CarPlay
Google maps and Waze maps are smoother going from a to b. Please fix, the map lagged half the route.
I do not understand why this app is so complex. Many times, just dropping a pin and naming a site takes way too many steps and never works as expected. It's a map app…why do you guys make it so hard to add a site and name it?
Downloading entire US. About 10 Gb. For last 5 hours get only 26% in spite of 60 Mbps speed. Update: for 24 hours the only 13 states were downloaded. I deleted all of them and tried state by state and it took no more than 30 seconds per state. Strange bug there. iPhone 14 Pro with the latest iOS.
Glad the support for tablet came! Awesome
Everything we were looking for is here.
Best Nav app. And with an additional bonus - No Google Spyware!
Great app I love most from the days when I started my road trips in USA. In the initial days when I stuck with limited data plans, the only app I found that supported offline maps. Now with lot of improvements. When i bought new car same that comes with car play right on time. Only i found some issues with traffic when connected to car play. Otherwise I am more happy to give full stars always!!!
- I will update later. I got a response and it seems I missed something.
